State-Of-The-Art DAC

Incoroporating tricking down technologies from Esoteric's new Master Sound Discrete DAC, TEAC developed a ΔΣ (Delta Sigma) discrete DAC comprised of circuitry that uses FPGA with original algorithms on each of the two channels of the UD-701N. This improves the S/N (signal to noise) ratio by processing each channel individually in monaural mode, as well as delivering DSD512 (22.5MHz) native and 384kHz/32-bit PCM playback capabilities.

The importance of a high-quality DAC cannot be overstated, as all audiophiles know well. The ΔΣ DAC delivers accurate, more detailed music reproduction and enhanced dynamic range without distortion or coloration.

The UD-701N Can Do It All

Another key feature of the UD-701 is its network connectivity. Whether you connect via wifi or ethernet, XLR or RCA, the UD-701N offers superb flexibility without compromising on sound quality. As a Network DAC, it’s been engineered to stream music with precision and clarity. Writes Headphone Guru’s Frank Iacone:

”Streaming was once again seamless and quiet. The sound was leaning more towards slightly warm, much like I hear on tube setups, and was always musical.”

The Bluetooth® receiver supports LDAC™ and Qualcomm® aptX™ HD, AAC and SBC, while the built-in MQA decoder supports your highest resolution files from music subscription services like TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify, and TuneIn. Plus, the UD-701N supports Open Home and is Roon Ready.

Suffice to say, this baby can do it all.

Excellent For Headphone Listeners

The UD-701N is also a fantastic option for those listening via high quality headphones. Iacone writes:

”Noticeable immediately was a silent black background. Free from any noise or grain, the UD-701N was a true experience of how far headphone listening has come using network players.”

The Headphone amplifier, with 4-pin XLR and ¼” connections, can be switched between balanced and active ground. A total of four diamond buffers – one in each of the left, right, positive and negative circuits – are used to enable the connection of balanced driver headphones. Even during single-end use, driving the amps in parallel provides a stronger driver overall compared to ordinary single-end headphone amplifiers. You’ll see for yourself the potential of many types of headphones, including 600Ω high-impedance headphones, to be used to perfection.

Frankly, there are too many great features and engineering factors to cover in one short blog post – visit our website to get the full scoop. And while we may be biased, we have to agree with Iacone’s final thoughts on Headphone.Guru:

”Noise free and nothing short of spectacular performance the TEAC UD-701N can compete with units that cost much more. … Big thumbs up to what will be my new endgame reference system.”
